Open data and API
The numbers behind the map, for researchers, journalists and developers.
Everything shown on the city and neighbourhood pages can be downloaded as CSV or GeoJSON, city by city or all at once. The index of any point in Brazil, with its heatmap, is available through the same API the site uses.
The Sossego Index is a model estimate over OpenStreetMap data, not a measurement. Before quoting a number, read the methodology and the validation section on the How it works page.

Validation against measurements
Comparison of the model with 64 measured points from three published campaigns in São Paulo (República and Ipiranga in 2019, Paulista and Consolação in 2019, Pinheiros, Itaim and Jardins in 2010 and 2011), 62 of them with a reliable location: coordinate used, geocoding method, measured value, day and night estimate, error and the road with most weight at each point.

- indice, classificacao
- Sossego Index from 0 to 100 (100 is the quietest) and its band: quiet, calm, active, busy, loud.
- db_dia, db_noite
- Estimated street level in dB(A), day and night, at the centre of the neighbourhood (median of nine points).
- indice_noite
- Index computed from the night estimate.
- indice_min, indice_max
- Lowest and highest index among the nine points of the neighbourhood.
- db_transito, db_aeroportos, db_fontes_locais
- Contribution of each group of sources in dB(A).
- via_principal, via_classe, via_metros
- Road that weighs most on the neighbourhood's noise, its OpenStreetMap class and the distance to the centre.
- aeroporto, aeroporto_metros
- Nearest airport within 20 km and its distance.
- posicao, total_bairros, media_cidade
- Rank within the city, number of neighbourhoods scored and city average.
- lat, lng
- Centre of the neighbourhood in WGS 84. In the GeoJSON it is the point geometry.
API
One GET request returns the index of a point, the contribution of each source, the night estimate, the roads that weigh most, the nearest airport and railway and, by default, a 3 km by 3 km heatmap in 60 by 60 cells. Use grid=0 when you only need the point: the response drops from 60 KB to 2 KB.
Parameters: lat and lng (required, within Brazil), grid (1 or 0), floor (0 to 40) and facing (window direction: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW). With floor or facing the response also carries a dwelling field with the estimate at the apartment.

- db, score, category and components (traffic, airports, local), plus night with the same fields for the night period.
- context
- loudestRoads (up to three named roads with class, distance and dB), nearestAirport, nearestRail, nearbyLocal and counts.
- grid
- bounds, size, cellMeters and the arrays total, night, traffic, airports and local with the index of each cell, north row first.
- source
- Where the data came from: city:<city> for the local datasets, city:brasil for the national one.

The API is free for light use, up to one request per second, with no key. Identify your application in the User-Agent. For higher volume, commercial use or a custom extract, write to contato@mapasossego.com.br. The download files are regenerated with every data update.
